The Wind’s Howl, the Cat’s Meowl

I watch the wind howl. I watch the cats meowl. There is no shortage of worry and fuss about drafty doorways and windows. How do humans keep on humaning in the midst of opposition. I heard someone once say it was a miracle we are all still here.

It’s miraculous because life is so beautiful and pain is so tragic. If life were not beautiful pain wouldn’t be tragic. It would merely be called life. Some do reference the latter as such and my heart hurts for them.

There is so much more to this life than pain, and there is so much more to pain than hurt. If I could encourage someone in pain right now, I would say hang in there. Hold on. Another day… another week… another year. Keep walking toward your dream. If you don’t have a dream, sit for a moment and quiet your mind. You may fall asleep and discover your dream.

A man I admire once compared an artist pursuing the work of creativity to a sailboat on the water. One of the best ways to get where you want to go is relax, let your sail fill with that Holy wind, and before you know it you are where you want to go. Life echoes this process at times.

The going is not always easy. There are many storms, however your vessel was designed to sail. Trust that it will when you put your hand to the rudder. Your job is not to push the ship. It is to aim the prow and catch the wind.

God has a way of finding ready sails.
